Three 30 Second Tips For Social Media Success

Whether you love it or hate it, social media is a key component of online business. To help take the guesswork out of your social media strategy, we’ve prepared 3 quick tips to help you find social media success in 2021. Implement these quick-hit strategies in the time it takes to brew your morning coffee.

1: Get To Know Your Tags

Hashtags have been around forever, but they’re still one of the primary ways people find the content they want to see. Consistently and accurately tagging your posts is an essential component of growing your online audience audience.

Look at the other accounts within your niche, what hashtags do they use? Find a handful of hashtags that apply to the content you’re producing. 7-10 tags is a good place to start.

Pick hashtags that are commonly used, but not so popular that your content will be washed out by newer posts.

Now here’s the key: write them down.

By using the same hashtags consistently, you are putting your content in front of the same audience over and over again. It’s 2021, people are frugal with their follows, and it may take 5, 10, sometimes 20 or more posts before someone decides to reward your hard work with a follow. It’s alright to rotate hashtags to test out what works best for your brand, but keep in mind that consistency is the key to results.

2: Set The Mood (Board)

Instagram is set up to present visuals first, copy rarely.

This means that your account’s curb appeal is priority #1. If you don’t have the budget for staged shoots or professional editing there are still ways that you can create the kind of consistency that draws new followers in and elevates brand perception.

Focus on brand colors - if you don’t have your brand colors picked out, use a free color picker to find the 2 or 3 colors which align best with your brand. With those colors in hand, make sure your graphics, photos and videos relate well to those anchors.

Create consistency in your grid by making sure each post is visually compatible with the post before. Remember that your grid is the first impression many people will have of your brand, and an organized and color-coordinated look is the best way to create the perfect first impression.

3: Train The Algorithm

When you sign up for Instagram, Facebook or any other social media platform you’re given a little virtual pet in the form of logs of data that inform the platform on what it is that you’re here to see. As you spend time interacting with accounts on the platform (i.e. liking, commenting, saving, sharing) it teaches this virtual pet what to fetch next. Most people simply view this as a way companies like Facebook, Instagram etc. use behavioral data to push advertising, but to us as marketers this feature becomes a powerful market research tool.

Liking and saving content that is related to your brand, aesthetic, market or lifestyle association helps create an incredibly inexpensive and effective monitor of trends and conversations happening in your space. By following industry hashtags and interacting with content similar to your own, your feed becomes a convenient venue to check in on what types of content are performing well. Use your feed to identify key influencers in your market, new ways to interact with your community and ultimately (by behaving like your target audience), gain strong insight into what types of content they are seeing and engaging with.
